Taming The Villainesses - Chapter 513
(EP.513) – The Story of the Little Imps #3
Special Feature – The Story of the Little Imps #3
Father Isaiah explained briefly, as if recalling the past.
“From what I remember, there was something called a baptism.”
“Baptism.”
“Solomon used to create supreme imps using the blood of the Maou or the Maou’s executives. He called this baptism.”
“Oh.”
I also remembered something. The time when guys like Tartarus, Purpur, and Galgal were still wild imps.
I think Tartarus said to Galgal that he was an ‘imp who had been baptized’ when he took Marmar’s house and tormented him.
Baptism was something like making imps drink the blood of high-ranking executives like Maou Solomon or Professor Balan to induce something like a rank-up, right?
Could that be how ember imps evolved into flame imps? It sounded very plausible. However, my father, Isaiah, shook his head.
“However, that was just a show. It had no effect.”
“Is that true?”
“Yeah, but even Solomon didn’t know why the imps grew taller, matured, and became adults. He wasn’t curious enough to find out.”
“Father, does that mean…”
“I don’t know either.”
Marmar’s tail drooped at the unexpected answer.
“Aw….”
I thought my father, Isaiah, would be able to solve Marmar’s haggard fruit, but he suddenly went into a labyrinth of thought, so he must have been discouraged.
I said to Marmar.
“We have no choice but to find out for ourselves.”
Then Marmar raised his tail and shouted.
“Let’s do it!”
That was the end of our business.
My father waved his hand at me and said, “Come visit more often. Bring the children like Leonora and little Mirna.”
Then my father looked at Marmar and paused for a moment. As if he was about to say something, Marmar said.
“It was nice meeting you, Maou-sama! I’ll introduce you to other imps later!”
“…Is that so. Yeah, it was nice meeting you too, Marmar. Thanks to you, I’ll be able to sleep comfortably tonight.”
“Then, Father, we’ll be going. We’ll come again for the next holiday. Open, gate of dimensions.”
We descended back to the surface through the dimensional gate. We didn’t learn much about the growth of the imps, but I felt good.
“So, what should we start with?”
I looked around the garden of the Angmar Company headquarters and put my hands on my hips. Where and how should I start? It was like drawing a map and plan on a blank canvas.
It had been a long time since I felt this way, so it was fun to go on an adventure.
That was when.
“Aaah-! Supreme Comrade Marmar has arrived…! Comrade Marmar…!”
Tartarus approached us and babbled something. We calmed Tartarus down and decided to listen to his story.
“Tartarus, what’s the matter?”
In response to my question, Tartarus explained.
“A strange imp visited the company…! I had him wait in the reception room for now, but he’s talking strangely, so go and listen to him quickly…!”
A strange imp? All imps have something strange about them. However, if Tartarus is making such a fuss, it must be strange enough to go and see.
* * *
I headed to the reception room and peeked inside. Naruna was there.
And I noticed a strange woman sitting in front of Naruna.
She was wearing a brown, worn-out robe.
It seemed that her finances weren’t in the best of shape, as her brown robe was old and had patches sewn on here and there. However, the arms and legs revealed beneath the robe were extremely long and slender.
Her chest was large as well.
My lecherous sensors were going off the charts; she had to be at least a D cup. But it wasn’t her slender limbs or impressive bust that caught my eye, but the horns on her forehead.
That’s right. Horns. The woman who had come to the reception room had a pair of horns growing out of her forehead, pointing left and right above her short red hair. And a triangular tail was wagging back and forth behind her hips.
That creature was an imp.
An imp that had grown to an unusually large size for some reason.
The strange triangular-tailed imp spoke.
“So, you said your name was Narnar? You’re the top imp who owns this large building, correct?”
“Me?”
“No need to be humble. The other imps are still small and immature. You seem quite capable. The imps in the ‘N’ group are pretty good, in my opinion. Not as good as the imps in the ‘K’ group, though.”
“No, I’m not the top imp. So, what’s your name…?”
“I am Girgish. Girgish Girnoi. An imp of the great first group, the Initiators. You could say I’m something of a senior to you. Do you understand who I am now?”
Girgish.
As I understand it, imps use a corresponding alliteration based on the time of their creation. From ‘K’ to ‘H’.
Imps with names starting with ‘K’ were the first to be born, and it is said that they were the imp executives of the Demon Lord’s Army, active all over the continent.
The Demon Lord reigned supreme at the top, with the four generals like Professor Balan below him. Below them were the imp executives, and below them were the grunts. That was the hierarchy of the Demon Lord’s Army.
It’s safe to say that most of the legends about the overbearing and wicked imps were created by these ‘K’ group imps. In other words, they were the competent middle managers of the Demon Lord’s Army.
Incidentally, it is said that the imps with square names, like Marmar or Mormo, from the ‘M’ group, had bright and cheerful personalities and were well-liked in the Demon Lord’s Army.
In this way, the personalities of imps varied depending on their names. I don’t know why. Maybe they had something like a production line?
Depending on the production line, their personalities and characteristics would differ, and they would be labeled with alliterative names to distinguish them.
I was surprised at my own deduction, but I was also impressed.
“Garururur, garururur…!”
Garurur, who had been sitting quietly beside us, could no longer contain herself and burst into the reception room, slamming the door open.
Marmar tried to stop her, saying, “Ah! No, you can’t!” but she couldn’t stop Garurur’s momentum.
“Garurur, garurur…!”
“W-what is this thing—!”
The slender imp who had identified herself as Girgish shouted in surprise at Garurur’s intrusion. Garurur, regardless, grabbed a castella cake that had been placed in front of the guests and ran into a corner, her eyes darting around her surroundings.
“Garurur….”
She looked like a cat that had caught a fish and was on the lookout for anyone who might try to take it away.
The guest imp Girgish seemed bewildered by this commotion and brushed her clothes off with her palms.
“This is my only set of clothes…! What the heck! That strange imp…! Ah, this is so annoying…!”
It seemed that she was in a bad mood because the tea that had spilled when Garurur caused a commotion had soaked her clothes.
Narnar said,
“I’ll give you some new clothes. Please forgive Garurur’s rudeness.”
“Oh, yeah, the Gargar sisters are really rude. Gargar…, Gargar…!? No, you really mean that Gargar…!?”
The guest imp, Girgish, is surprised.
She soon stops shaking her wet clothes and approaches Gargar, who is growling in the corner and eating Castella, and grabs her cheeks with both hands.
“My, my, senior! It’s really Gargar! What happened to you! Is this miserable figure really you, Senior Gargar…!? What happened to you, our foremost imp…!?”
“Growl, growl…!”
“While this Girgish was trapped in the cave, what on earth happened to the world!? The Demon King’s army has been annihilated! There are a lot of people I don’t know!”
Thump, thump. Thump, thump.
“And what the heck is this damn Nymph tendo…!?”
The guest Girgish panicked. Thinking that she could no longer watch, Marmar stepped forward.
“Excuse me, did you say Girgish?”
“Who are you again? You’re so small!”
“Huh, what?!”
Marmar’s square diamond-shaped tail drooped to the floor at the sharp question from Girgish.
The imp named Girgish was more ill-tempered than she thought. Maybe that’s the true nature of the imps.
“I, I’m Marmar….”
Marmar stammered as if she had been suppressed by a momentum she had never imagined. Girgish, hearing Marmar’s name, growled, “How dare a square-shaped Nymph speak to me. In my time…”
It was then.
“Growl, growl…!”
Swish-!
Gargar, who was eating Castella, bit the guest imp Girgish’s palm. Girgish was greatly embarrassed and struggled.
“Ouch…! Senior, why are you doing this! I’m Girgish! Don’t you remember me…!? Why are you biting me!”
Then Narna grabs Gargar’s waist and pulls her away, saying.
“Perhaps it’s because you’re being aggressive towards Marmar. Miss Marmar is our foremost imp. The owner of this building is Miss Marmar.”
Girgish then made an even more astonished expression than when her hand was just bitten.
“My, my…! That can’t be! An imp with a square name as the foremost imp? In my time, that was unimaginable! This world, something is wrong!”
Something seemed to be wrong. I also decided to join the conversation because I thought it would ruin my peaceful days if I caused any more confusion.
“Excuse me, let’s calm down for a moment.”
“Who is this guy again? Who are you to order me….”
Bang- Girgish frowned. However, Girgish suddenly knelt down on the floor and rubbed her face on the carpet in the reception room.
“Ugh, why am I…!? What is this…!? My body won’t move…!”
“That’s what happens when you have a half-hearted determination in front of Tae-oh Kyung. Sister Girgish, your body knows the instincts of the Demon King’s army that are carved into you.”
“Argh…!”
I didn’t do anything, but Girgish was getting flatter and flatter. I thought it would be better to say something before it became a mouse trap.
“…No, please be at ease.”
“Puff…!”
Only then did Girgish come to her senses. First of all, we decided to listen to Girgish’s story.
“First of all, please tell me who you are.”
It was the first time I had met an imp who seemed to know about the old Demon King’s army. I became interested. Girgish glanced at us as if we were pitiful, but slowly began to tell her story.
“I am Girgir. I belonged to the First Imp Brigade of the Demon King’s army. I was investigating a land that had been split apart by a large earthquake when I was attacked by an elf inspector and fell into a crevice in the split cliff.”
Was the elf inspector Opal, Stella’s older brother? Girgir said that she survived for many days inside the cliff after falling into it.
“There were strange creatures and plants there, so surviving wasn’t a problem. But I couldn’t find a way to get back up.”
Girgir said that she escaped from that crevice relatively recently. That meant that she had been trapped in a strange place for half a century while the Demon King’s army and the heroes were fighting, and then emerged into the world.
“When I came out into the world, the Demon King’s army had been annihilated. And there were all sorts of strange things running around. First, I followed the news of my imp sisters….”
“So that’s why you came here! What a strange story!”
Marmar suddenly raised her hand. Girgir briefly checked to see if Marmar was still suspicious and untrustworthy, but she only pursed her lips and didn’t scold her any further.
“Grrrrrr….”
That was probably because she was being guarded by Gar-gar, a ferocious wolf-like monster that was next to Marmar. The guest imp, Girgir, still seemed to find it hard to believe.
“But it was good that you came here. You got to meet Senior Gar-gar. Senior Gar-gar was really amazing. Now, I can’t even sense a shred of the intelligence that used to be called ‘Wise Gar-gar.’”
“Grrrrrr…!”
I recalled how Tartarus and Purpure had once told the crazy imp Gar-gar that he had actually held a high position in the Demon King’s army.
I had thought that they were just blowing smoke, but from what Girgir said, it seemed that Gar-gar had been a Quite one veteran in the Demon King’s army. Now, he was just Gar-gar….
Anyway.
* * *
The imp sorority of the Angmar Company decided to provide lodging for the old rookie, Girgir.
However, Girgir didn’t seem to be adapting well. Of course, it wouldn’t be easy for someone from 50 years ago to adapt to modern times.
Imagine if someone who had disappeared during the Korean War suddenly dropped into the 21st century. How strange the world would seem to them. It would be like another world.
Everything seemed strange to Girgir, but the strangest thing of all seemed to be Marmar.
“Your name is Marmar? I never thought that the day would come when an imp with a square name would be above all imps. And you’re not even a fully grown imp yet. Are you actually an amazing magician or something?”
“I’m good at making dolls! I’m also good at cooking and doing laundry! And my tail is shaped like a square diamond!”
“What? You became the supreme imp because you’re good at making dolls? What a strange world. But your diamond tail is kind of cool.”
“My friend Mormor has a star-shaped tail.”
“That’s amazing. Star tails are really rare.”
Girgir let out a chuckle as she was shown to her room.
I had been worried that she might run wild and do something bad since she was from the old Demon King’s army, but she was surprisingly well-behaved.
Then, as I watched Girgir talk about the old days, something suddenly came to mind.
“Girgir, you said that you were an executive in the old Demon King’s army, right?”
“Hmm? Oh, yeah, um, I guess you could say that…. Well, it’s kind of like that….”
“Then you might know secrets that the imps of today don’t know. Like how to make imps grow taller.”
“What…do you mean that no one knows how to do that now…?”
